NIA says recent CRC recommendations not Jamaican enough
The recent recommendations from the Constitutional Reform Committee, (CRC), do not go far enough to “Jamaicanize” the constitution.
This, according to Director of the National Integrity Action, (NIA) Danielle Archer.
Ms. Archer was reacting to the CRC report that was submitted to cabinet in May.
The submission of the report, with recommendations from its 15 members, marked the first step in the phased approach to making Jamaica a republic.
Speaking on Irie Fm’s Africa forum on Sunday, the NIA director said more work needs to be done.
Meantime, Ms. Archer expressed concern about the make up of the committee.
She questioned whether the team selected can truly achieve consensus on the issues related to Jamaica becoming a republic.
