Prime Minister Andrew Holness has indicated that the National Housing Trust, NHT is at an advanced stage in the process of establishing over forty thousand affordable housing solutions.

The government has committed to building 70 thousand housing units, within a 5 year period.

The NHT is responsible for constructing 43 thousand of these units.

Giving an update on the process, during the handing over of a house in Clarendon, yesterday, Mr. Holness said over 10 thousand units are in the contract phase, more than 16 thousand are in the procurement phase and approximately 5 thousand are under construction.

He reiterated that the government has a comprehensive housing plan.
