New Autopsy Suite will improve efficiency of Criminal Justice System- Dr. Chang
National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang said when completed, the Autopsy Suite will help make the criminal justice system more efficient.
While on a tour of the facility, Dr. Chang expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction.
The facility, which is 80 percent complete forms the final component of the upgrading of the Institute of Forensic Science and Legal Medicine, to make it into a Forensic Pathology Unit.
Dr. Chang said forensic evidence has become more critical in the fight against criminal enterprises, and having a quality forensic institute is crucial.
He noted that the autopsy suite is a vital part of the entire crime-fighting apparatus.
He acknowledged that attracting, and retaining trained Pathologists have been challenging, over the years.
Construction cost for the autopsy suite has been revised to approximately 650 million dollars.
It is being built under the ministry’s Rebuild, Overhaul and Construct initiative.
