NERHA says plans are progressing to develop a health centre in Runaway Bay, St. Ann

The North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) says plans to develop a new community health centre in Runaway Bay, St. Ann, are progressing.

The statement follows concerns raised by the People’s National Party’s, Senator Gabriella Morris about the poor state of the facility.

Morris is the aspiring Member of Parliament for St. Ann North Western.

Responding to the concerns today, NERHA said consultants prepared the designs for the new Runaway Bay Health Centre and are preparing the bills of quantities.

The next step will be obtaining the relevant building approvals.

The regional health body also acknowledged the need for repairs to the building housing the health centre.

It said these repairs, including repairs to the roof, were completed by the owner of the building in December, last year.

NERHA added that under the primary health care reform programme, the new Runaway Bay Community Health Centre will provide maternal care services, health promotion and education, community outreach, and basic lab services among other services.
