NEPA to meet with environmental stakeholders regarding effluent spill in Rio Cobre
The National Environment and Planning Agency, Nepa, is to meet with environmental stakeholders and some St. Catherine residents on Friday, regarding an effluent spill into the Rio Cobre, on Wednesday.
The meeting which was slated for today was postponed.
Yesterday, residents reportedly observed effluent in the river.
Nepa confirmed that, there was an incident of pollution and initially agreed to meet with stakeholders on the matter today.
Speaking to Irie Fm news this afternoon, Mr Gordon said the meeting has been rescheduled.
Noting that pollution incidents are occurring too often, Mr. Gordon called on residents to attend the meeting to register their frustration with the situation.
