National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang says sustained reductions in crime and violence require effective law enforcement and strategic investment in prevention, rehabilitation and social transformation.
The statement was made at the Project Star Donor breakfast this morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Warren Clarke who presented the Minister’s speech said National Security is not only about enforcement but about creating conditions in which people can work, live, raise their children and build futures without fear.
He said project star aligns perfectly with this goal.
He lauded the results gained through project star, noting that they have pushed the initiative into its fifth year.
According to the Ministry, the multi-donor partnership is geared towards transforming vulnerable communities through youth development programmes, training and other social support with an aim to reduce crime and violence while building peaceful, resilient communities.
