Jamaica’s maritime domain is a critical area of national security and must be further developed with the necessary marine infrastructure and enforcement capacity.

That comment from Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang, who said the country’s ocean space is larger than its land territory, so securing it is essential to national stability.

Dr. Chang said increased maritime security also supports the growth of the blue economy, noting that Jamaica’s territorial waters hold untapped economic potential that can be fully realized with the right investment.

He was speaking at the press launch of the superstars of Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament.
