National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang has committed to doing more to ensure the safety of school children.

He was speaking at the Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College Research Day yesterday.

Dr Chang cited a study commissioned by the Ministries of National Security and Education last year, which revealed that students feel safer on school campuses than on the road.

He noted that the study also found that school safety was positively correlated to academic performance.

He said the data prompted the Ministry to collaborate with other entities including the Social Development Commission to work with the school community, and help increase the level of safety for students.
