National security minister calls on JFJ protesters to consider impact of crime on victims

National security minister Dr. Horace Chang, along with several others members of the lower house, wore blue coloured clothing today, as a show of support for the police.

This amidst a protest staged by human rights lobby group Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) in Kingston today, to call for the use of body worn cameras by the security forces, in light of an increase in fatal shootings.

The JFJ protesters wore black clothing.

In a counter protest, persons who support the police wore blue.

Dr. Chang commented on the issue, just before making his contribution to the sectoral debate in parliament this afternoon.

While citing the latest crime reduction statistics, Dr. Chang noted the significant effort taken by the Jamaica Constabulary Force to maintain law and order in the country.

He pointed out that the protesters in black should consider the impact of crime on victims, especially orphaned children.
