Murders down 42% as of September 6
Murders are down by 42%.
According to the latest crime data from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, 469 people were murdered as at Saturday, September 6.
This is 340 fewer than the 809 recorded in the corresponding period last year.
The St. Andrew South Police Division had the highest number of murders with 56, followed by St. Catherine South and St. Ann with 42 each.
Portland had the least with 8, followed by Trelawny with 9.
The police are also reporting that rape cases declined by 79.
Meanwhile, robberies went up by 59 and break-ins increased by 160.
