Murder tally surpasses 900 mark
Jamaica’s murder tally has surpassed the 900 mark.
According to the latest police data, 918 people have been murdered in the country as at Sunday October 20.
This is 219 fewer than the 1,137 homicides recorded in the same period last year.
St. James recorded the highest number of murders with 110, followed by St. Andrew South with 86.
Portland recorded the lowest with 8.
Meantime, incidents of rape, robberies and break-ins also decreased.
Rapes went down by 116, from 402 hundred and 84.
Robberies decreased by 122, from 627 to 505.
While, break ins declined by 16 from 726, to 710.
