Murder and gun related charges laid against man who was listed as Hanover’s most wanted

Murder and gun-related charges have been laid against a man who was listed by police as Hanover’s Most Wanted.

He is 24-year-old Towayne Gunnings, otherwise called ‘Tuffy’ of Grange and Rock Spring, Green Island, in the parish.

Gunnings has been charged with the murder of 21-year-old C-Jay Hall of Green River, Salt Spring in Hanover.

He has also been charged with shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Reports are that at about 12:30 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, residents heard explosions and summoned the police.

On their arrival, Hall was seen lying face down along the roadway with gunshot wounds to the upper body.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

On Tuesday, April 02, at about 12:40 PM, a team of officers went to a beach in the parish, where they observed a man pulling a female onto a motorcycle.

This aroused the suspicion of the lawmen who approached the man and the woman.

Upon seeing the police, Gunnings allegedly brandished a firearm and opened fire at them.

Gunnings reportedly drove off and eluded the police, who had given chase.

On Monday, September 16, Gunnings was arrested and charged after he surrendered to the police, accompanied by his attorney.

His court date is being arranged.
