Municipal Corporations to receive $140M to aid with preparations for the hurricane season
The country’s Municipal Corporations will be provided with 140 million dollars to aid with preparations for the hurricane season.
The revelation was made by Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie, while speaking at a town hall meeting in Rocky Point, Clarendon last evening (July 7).
Mr McKenzie said the contribution will target mitigation exercises, drain cleaning and other preparedness measures.
As such, Mr McKenzie said there should be no excuse as to why preparations are not being made for the season, which has been predicted to be above average.
In assuring residents of the steps that are being taken to bolster hurricane preparedness, Mr McKenzie lauded Clarendon for being among parishes most prepared in the case of a disaster.
He noted that a drain cleaning exercise is to commence in the parish in short order.
