Municipal authorities to be first target of SPEED initiative
The municipal authorities will be the first target of the Streamlining Processes, for Efficiency and Economic Development (SPEED) programme.
This, as the government moves to reduce hurdles, in doing business.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the corporations are important to the local economy.
He also notes, that the objective of speed, is to create an environment in which businesses can flourish.
According to the prime minister, many business people, face bureaucratic hurdles, particularly in accessing permits and approvals.
He said the speed initiative will seek to eliminate these barriers.
Ambassador Audrey Marks is the minister with responsibility for the SPEED initiative.
She is to undertake a comprehensive review of Jamaica’s governance arrangements, systems and processes, and implement targeted reforms across the government, that will eliminate inefficiencies, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance the ease and speed of doing business.
