Mr. Vegas declares loyalty to JLP, vows to spread the message
Dancehall deejay Mr. Vegas has sparked questions about his political aspirations following his first official political speech for the JLP.
Over the weekend, he attended the JLP Central St. James Workers’ Conference in Montego Bay, where he declared, “I am not here as an artist, but as a patriotic Jamaican.”
To show his commitment to the JLP, Mr. Vegas said he’s willing to go door to door or even walk across the island to spread the party’s message.
Recently, Finance Minister Fayval Williams acknowledged Mr. Vegas in Parliament for his support after her controversial Probox comment went viral.
In recent times, more entertainers have publicly shown their political support. Both Vybz Kartel and Buju Banton have openly backed the PNP.
A general election is constitutionally due by September this year.
