MPs urged to truly understand and act in their roles as advocates and decision makers
This morning’s orientation of members of parliament, commenced, with a charge for MPs to truly understand, and act in their roles as advocates and decision makers.
The charge was given by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Juliet Holness.
She noted that despite the challenges of the position, MPs must acknowledge, that they have been trusted with representing their constituents.
Mrs. Holness also encouraged the MPs to utilize the resources of the parliamentary staff, while treating them with the utmost respect.
The orientation programme for MPs is designed to introduce or re-introduce members with parliamentary procedures, and the roles of key officers and the support they provide to parliamentarians.
