Caribbean Cup finalists Mount Pleasant Football Academy have raised more than $400,000 in cash and kind through its Hurricane Relief Donation Drive launched during Wednesday’s Concacaf Caribbean Cup return-leg semifinal at the National Stadium.

The initiative was organized to support communities affected by Hurricane Melissa, which caused significant damage across parts of Jamaica, including St. Ann — home parish of the club.

In a release, Mount Pleasant said the funds and supplies will go directly toward relief and rebuilding projects in St. Ann and other impacted areas.

As part of the club’s contribution:

• Food items will be presented to the Jacob’s Ladder Mustard Seed Community in St. Ann.
• Care packages will be distributed to hurricane-affected families within the parish.
• A $100,000 cash donation will go to the St. Ann Chamber of Commerce in support of ongoing relief initiatives.
• An additional cash donation will be made to Treasure Beach FC, a Jamaica Premier League club whose home community suffered severe damage.

Mount Pleasant also acknowledged the vital role of Concacaf and its president, Victor Montagliani, in helping coordinate fan contributions. Supporters attending the match were able to donate directly by scanning an on-screen barcode, while Concacaf’s Jamaica office managed in-stadium collections.

Sporting Director Paul Christie hailed the success of the initiative, describing it as a testament to the unity and compassion within the football community.

“We are deeply moved by the generosity of our fans and partners. Football is more than a game — it’s a force for unity and compassion,” Christie said. “Mount Pleasant is proud to play its part in helping our fellow Jamaicans recover and rebuild.”

In a further show of solidarity, Mount Pleasant’s Belgian partner club R.A.E.C. Mons will host its own fundraiser on Saturday, November 8, ahead of their home match against Meux. Fans there will have the opportunity to purchase collector’s shirts signed by the full squad, with proceeds going directly to community rebuilding projects in Jamaica.

Both clubs have also pledged to continue collaborating on future relief initiatives in the coming weeks as part of their shared commitment to community development.
