Mount Pleasant extend winning streak to 10 with dominant 3-0 victory over Cavalier in Jamaica Premier League

Mount Pleasant continued their red-hot form in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League, extending their winning streak to 10 consecutive matches with an impressive 3-0 victory over defending champions Cavalier on Thursday at Drax Hall.

In a repeat of last season’s final, Mount Pleasant came out on top with a commanding performance. Jahshaun Anglin opened the scoring in the 10th minute, putting the St. Ann-based outfit on the front foot early. Just 15 minutes later, Daniel Green doubled the advantage with a clinical finish in the 25th minute, leaving Cavalier with a mountain to climb.

Defender Franco Celestine sealed the win in the 77th minute, adding a third goal to put the result beyond doubt. With this victory, Mount Pleasant have now gone unbeaten in 12 consecutive games dating back to October 30, their only defeat in their last 18 matches.

The win propels Mount Pleasant to 46 points, maintaining their top spot in the standings, while Cavalier slips to sixth with 32 points, struggling to find their rhythm after last season’s title triumph.

In other action, Shaniel Thomas scored twice to help Montego Bay United come from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Humble Lion at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex. Despite going down early, Mobay fought back through Thomas in the 72nd and 79th and Daniel Reid (90+1’) to earn the crucial three points, staying in second place with 40 points. Arnett Gardens, who drew 0-0 with Molynes United, remain in third, just two points behind Mobay.

Over at Ferdie Neita Park, Racing United claimed a 2-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens thanks to first-half goals from Tajay Grant (26’) and Nickyle Ellis (29’). The win lifted Racing to 8th place with 19 points, while Tivoli, now with 26 points, remain in 7th.

With the league nearing the business end of the season, Mount Pleasant’s dominance at the top continues to grow, while the race for playoff spots intensifies across the table.
