Mount Pleasant back to winning ways with dominant 6-2 victory over Molynes United


Match day 25 – Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League

After suffering a rare defeat in their previous match, Mount Pleasant returned to their dominant best with a resounding 6-2 victory over Molynes United at the Drewsland Mini Stadium on Match day 25 in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League.

The St. Ann-based team, who were shocked by a 2-1 loss to Harbour View in their last outing, bounced back in sensational fashion. Shaqueil Bradford led the charge, scoring twice in a thrilling encounter. His first goal came in the 27th minute, levelling the scores at 1-1 after Rushawn Livingston opened the scoring for Molynes United in the 14th minute. Bradford then added a second in the 53rd minute to push Mount Pleasant further ahead.

Mount Pleasant had earlier seized a 3-1 lead by the 34th minute thanks to goals from Kimoni Bailey (34’) and Nicholas Nelson (37′). However, Molynes United fought back, with Peter McGregor converting a penalty in the 41st minute to make it 3-2 before halftime.

The second half saw Mount Pleasant firmly in control, as Reggae Boyz defender Sue-Lae McCalla extended their lead to 5-2 in the 76th minute. Alex Marshall completed the rout with a goal in the 87th minute, securing the 6-2 victory.

The one-sided victory sees Mount Pleasant rebound from defeat on Match day 24 to extend their lead at the top of the standings to a league-best 55 points.

Meanwhile, Arnett Gardens continued their pursuit of the league leaders with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Waterhouse at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Arnett Gardens were forced to come from behind after Atapharoy Bygrave (22′) and Javane Bryan (74′) had given Waterhouse the lead. However, Warner Brown (20′ penalty), Jaheim Thomas (5′), and Chantomoi Taylor (87′) all found the net for Arnett Gardens to secure a crucial victory. The win puts Arnett Gardens 7 points behind Mount Pleasant, still in second place with 48 points.

In the opening game of the double header, Montego Bay United played out a 1-1 draw with defending champions Cavalier. Deverow McKenzie (37′) gave Mobay the lead, but Shaquille Stein (90+1′) leveled the score late in stoppage time. The draw leaves the Montegonians in third place with 45 points, while Cavalier are in fifth on 38 points.

Elsewhere, Vere United and Harbour View played out a 1-1 draw at the Wembley Centre of Excellence. Kevaun Atkinson (42′) and Colorado Murray (57′) traded goals, but neither team was able to find a winner. With the draw, Harbour View remain 2 points clear of the relegation zone with 20 points, while Vere United are second from bottom with 18 points.

League Standings Update

  • Mount Pleasant remain top of the table with 55 points after their commanding victory over Molynes United.
  • Arnett Gardens continue to apply pressure, sitting second with 48 points.
