More than 3,600 employed in cruise sector following major recruitment exercise
The recent cruise industry recruitment exercise, which began on July 8, has resulted in the employment of over 3,600 Jamaicans so far.
Tourism minister Edmund Bartlett made the announcement in parliament, on Tuesday.
Mr. Bartlett said the aim is to have over 5,000 Jamaicans employed from this current recruitment session.
He said another recruitment drive will be held later this year, to meet the target of 10, 000 Jamaican workers.
Mr. Bartlett explained that the recruitment drive comes at a time when the cruise sector, and the tourism industry overall, are showing signs of growth.
