More than 20 people were murdered in the country last week.

According to the latest police data, 251 murders were recorded up to Saturday March 23, compared to the 223 homicides recorded up to the week ending Saturday March 16.

This represents an increase of 28.

Meantime, incidents of rape, robberies and break-ins also increased last week.

Rapes went up by 2, from 57 to 59.

Robberies increased by 19, from 139 to 158.

While break ins went up by 22 from 166, to 188.

Overall, there were 97 additional reports of serious crimes last week up to 895 from the 798 recorded the previous week.
