More countries express interest in providing teachers to Jamaica  for September

More countries have expressed an interest in providing teachers to Jamaica  for the upcoming school term.

Speaking in a Post Cabinet Press Briefing this morning, Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry,  Dr Kasan Troupe said Ghana and the Philippines are among those countries.

She said representatives from Ghana have committed to visiting the island in the week of August 11 to finalize discussions.

She said the teachers are satisfied with working for the rates being offered to local teachers.

Dr Troupe said the areas of focus are Mathematics and Science for this school year.

In the meantime, she said talks continue with countries including Cuba which have teachers already serving in the sector.

She said the move is aimed at   providing options for the sector.
