More citizens viewed the security forces as corrupt between 2019 and 2023
The number of citizens who viewed the security forces as corrupt increased between 2019 and 2023.
The disclosure was made by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica, (Statin) at the launch of the 2023 Jamaica National Crime Victimisation survey report on Friday.
Head of Statin’s Special Projects Unit Stacey-Ann Thompson said 71.1 percent of respondents viewed the Jamaica Constabulary Force as corrupt in 2023, in comparison to the 65.2 percent in 2019.
She said majority of respondents however believed that the security forces are reliable.
Meantime, Ms Thompson said the Jamaica Defence Force topped the reliability chart with 91.6 percent, with the Jamaica Constabulary Force accounting for 76.4 percent in 2023.
