More citizens, especially men trusting police with domestic violence issues- ACP Charmaine Shand
The nearly 5,000 incidents reported to the country’s domestic violence intervention centres so far this year indicate that more citizens are trusting the police.
That’s according to Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Community Safety and Security Branch, Charmaine Shand.
ACP Shand, who was speaking at a domestic violence church service in St. Catherine yesterday noted that more men are coming forward to report this type of violence against them.
October is being observed as domestic violence awareness month under the theme, “Heal, Hold and Centre: Choose A Better Way.”
