The National Works Agency (NWA) says a section of the roadway from Morant Bay to Wilmington in St. Thomas is blocked due to a landslide.

The NWA gave the notice in a social media post.

The update comes as the island is being impacted by unstable weather conditions which are expected to persist until Saturday.

According to the NWA, its team has been mobilising efforts to have the roadway reopened in short order.

The agency is also advising the public to exercise extreme caution along the nation’s roads during periods of heavy rainfall.

The NWA urges citizens to avoid attempting to cross flooded roadways and to stay alert, especially in hilly areas where landslides may impact corridors.
