Montague: historic AA flight to Ian Fleming International Airport is good for St. Mary
The atmosphere at the Ian Fleming International Airport in Boscobel St. Mary was one of jubilation and national pride, with the historic arrival of American Airlines inaugural flight.
Scores of people, including officials from Jamaica and the United States of America, witnessed the occasion, complete with a welcoming ceremony, earlier today.
Flight 4007 landed just after 12:00 p.m. and was greeted with loud cheers from the waiting crowd, especially when the pilot waved the Jamaican flag from the cockpit window.
The cheers grew even louder, as Member of Parliament for Western St. Mary Robert Montague, was the first person to disembark the plane.
Montague explained that today’s event made St. Mary a globally recognised destination.
