A mobile police station is now operational in the St. James Police Division, as cops seek to restore order in the second city.

Head of the division Senior Superintendent Vernon Ellis said the initiative will be a permanent tool aimed at restoring public order.

He said the mobile station will provide surveillance capabilities, as well as offer administrative services.

The mobile station will also increase proximity policing, allowing citizens a more convenient option for reporting crimes.
