Minor arrested in connection with stone-throwing attacks on JUTC buses

A minor has been arrested in connection with a series of stone-throwing attacks on buses operated by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC).

This follows several recent attacks on the buses in the Corporate Area.

Six incidents were reported last Friday night, bringing the total number of attacks since Wednesday, July 16, to 10.

In an interview with IRIE FM News, Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr. Gary McKenzie, said the youngster is believed to be one of the perpetrators involved in one of the recent incidents.

Noting that investigations continue, ACP Dr. McKenzie emphasized that the stoning of JUTC buses is a criminal offence, and anyone caught engaging in such acts will be arrested and prosecuted.

The JUTC continues to appeal to members of the public to desist from the dangerous and unlawful practice of stoning its buses.
