Minimum Wage to be increased to 15 thousand dollars, effective June 1
Effective June 1, the National Minimum Wage will be increased from 13 thousand to 15 thousand dollars, per 40-hour work week.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement Thursday, during his contribution to the Budget Debate.
He also shared that the minimum wage for Industrial Security Guards will be increased from 14 thousand to 15 thousand dollars, effective June 1.
The Prime Minister said the 15 percent increase will help offset the impact of inflation.
