Reggae Boyz forward Michail Antonio is reportedly flying to Dubai to begin the next phase of his recovery following a horrific car accident in December.

The West Ham United player, who was seriously injured in the crash, will according to The Sun spend nearly two weeks at a training center in the United Arab Emirates, where he will continue his rehabilitation before returning to the UK on February 20.

Antonio’s accident occurred on December 7, when he was involved in a terrifying collision with a tree while driving his £260,000 grey Ferrari. The impact trapped him inside the vehicle for over 45 minutes before emergency services managed to free him. The forward was then airlifted to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for a broken leg sustained in the crash.

Despite the severity of the accident, Antonio is expected to return to fitness, though he is not expected to feature for West Ham again this season, with his contract expiring in June.

The 34-year-old has been an integral part of the team since joining in 2015, scoring an impressive 83 goals in 323 appearances across all competitions. He is also West Ham’s all-time top scorer in the English Premier League with 68 goals and played a key role in the club’s 2022 Europa Conference League victory.
