Met Service issues flash flood watch for 9 parishes
A flash flood watch has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Elizabeth, Manchester, Clarendon, St. Catherine, Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Thomas, Portland and St. Mary.
The flash flood watch is to remain in effect until 5:00 p.m. today.
A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the met service and be ready for quick action, if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
A cold front currently moving across the island is responsible for the unstable weather conditions.
Moderate to heavy showers have been occurring mainly across sections of southern and northeastern parishes since mid-morning.
Fishers on the north and south coasts should exercise caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms and strong winds.
