Merl Grove’s shining star Abigail Bennett readies to make a mark at Penns
ISSA Girls Championship Class 1 discuss champion Abigail Bennett will once again wave the flag of Merl Grove High at the 130th running of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
Bennett, who hails from Golden Spring in St Andrew, produced a stunning upset victory at Champs when she hurled 47.63 meters to take the gold ahead of Dionjah Shaw of Edwin Allen and Marla-Kay Lampart of Clarendon College.
She was part of the Jamaican quartet that swept the top four places for Jamaican schools at Penn Relays last year, and she aims to move up higher in the order with a win on her mind this time around.

The 17-year-old says she has seen great improvement overall this year under the tutelage of her coach, Tamara Williams Gayle.
The former Golden Spring Primary athlete who plans to become a professional athlete is also eyeing becoming a software engineer, and while she has one more year left in school, she is already weighing her Collegiate options.
Irie FM will have comprehensive coverage of the 130th running of the Penn Relays between Thursday, April 23, and Saturday, the 26th
