Meeting underway between JUTC and two unions aimed at resolving issue that led to strike by drivers
A meeting is underway between the management of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) and two unions aimed at resolving the issue that led to industrial action by drivers.
The Unions are the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) and the Union of Clerical and Supervisory Employees (UCASE).
Drivers in Rockfort, Kingston as well as in Portmore and Spanish Town in St. Catherine withdrew their services as at 4 o’clock this morning.
The workers are reportedly dissatisfied with the JUTC’s handling of an issue involving two employees.
The two workers have been reassigned temporarily, while an investigation is being conducted.
However, the disgruntled drivers are demanding stronger action.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Vice-President of the UAWU Clifton Grant said he is hoping the matter will be resolved at today’s meeting.
The UAWU represents the drivers.
