Meeting about Portmore’s parish status descended into chaos, last evening
A meeting held last evening about Portmore becoming a parish ended in chaos after some residents who objected to the move, interrupted the session.
These residents reportedly clashed with others who support Portmore becoming a parish.
The shouting and cross talk among the groups began just as Member of Parliament for St Catherine East Central Alando Terrelonge pointed out that the development of Portmore came from the vision of former Prime Minister Edward Seaga.
The Opposition Peoples National Party, P-N-P has long challenged the transition of Portmore into a parish.
It has pledged that if the governing Jamaica Labour Party pushes through with the legislation to grant Portmore parish status, it will take the matter to court as well as revoke the law when the PNP forms the next government.
