The cancellations took effect on Saturday, the same day Spirit announced that it is shutting down due to financial challenges.

In a statement, MBJ Airports Limited, operator of Sangster International Airport in St. James and PACKAL, operator of Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston  acknowledged the announcement.

Both said Spirit Airlines advised its passengers not to proceed to the airports, and customers are encouraged to follow the airline’s guidance regarding next steps, including refund.

Both airports remain fully operational, and are maintaining close coordination with key stakeholders to assist impacted passengers.
