Mavado’s lawyer speaks out: “He’s not hiding from Jamaica!”
Seven years after a warrant was issued for Mavado’s arrest, the Dancehall star has yet to turn himself in.
Reports indicate that Mavado, born David Brooks, is wanted for assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident in 2018.
However, Mavado’s lawyer, Oswest Senior Smith, is setting the record straight — insisting his client isn’t hiding from Jamaica or anyone.
The warrant stems from a complaint made by Anthony Goulbourne, who was arrested and charged after allegedly firing shots at Mavado during a June 2018 altercation.
With the warrant still active, Mavado faces arrest upon returning to Jamaica.
Attorney Oswest Senior Smith also emphasized that Mavado has consistently maintained his innocence.
The renewed debate over Mavado’s return and the warrant gained traction on social media after his son, Dantay Brooks, was recently released from prison.
