Mavado demands ‘Real Justice’ after son’s release
Following the release of his son, dancehall star Mavado is threatening legal action against the state to secure what he calls “real justice.”
Over the weekend, Mavado broke his silence in a passionate Instagram post, expressing relief and joy that his son is finally free from what he described as a “State-imposed hell.” However, he made it clear that his fight isn’t over, stating that there’s a “fire raging within him” over the injustice his son endured for seven years.
Mavado warned that he and his legal team will be pursuing full legal action against all involved, declaring, “We will not stop fighting until real justice is served upon those who perpetrated this awful, unlawful, and unwarranted action against my son and his co-accused, Andre Hinds.”
In the comment section, Vybz Kartel showed solidarity with a single red heart emoji, while other entertainers, including Aidonia, Vanessa Bling, Spragga Benz, Dexta Daps, and producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, also voiced their support.
Mavado’s son, Dantay Brooks, and his co-accused, Andre Hinds, were sentenced to life in 2021 for the 2018 murder of Lorenzo Thomas. However, their convictions were overturned last Friday (March 7), leading to their release.
