Matter involving Maroons and Government to return to court in September
The matter involving the Accompong Maroons and the Government is set to return to court, in September.
The decision was made when the case was mentioned in court on Thursday (July 21).
The Accompong Maroons, led by Chief Richard Currie are suing the Government and the National Heritage Trust in relation to the proposed mining of sections of the Cockpit Country.
The Maroons have made numerous calls for the area to be protected.
Attorney-at-Law, Isat Buchanan, who is representing the Maroons said the Government wants the case thrown out, but the Maroons will press ahead with their claim, come September.
