Mark Golding welcomes court’s decision in the case to make Portmore a parish

Opposition leader Mark Golding says Jamaica is safe following an order by the court, in the Portmore Parish case.

The court indicated on Friday, that the act making Portmore the 15th parish, could only come into force, after the completion of the procedure, outlined in the constitution.

The governing and opposition parties have welcomed the court’s decision.

Speaking at a candidate presentation event in North East St Andrew last night, Mr Golding told supporters, that the party won the court case.

He reiterated the party’s position, stating, that the move to create a 15th parish, was a gerrymandering exercise.

Mr Golding welcomed the court’s decision as a victory for Jamaica, saying the country is safe.
