March farewell for music legend Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett

The legendary Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett, who passed away on February 3 at the age of 77, will be laid to rest next month.

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, says the public will have an opportunity to pay final respects to the late Jamaican musician.

The funeral service for Barrett, who was the bass player and musical director for Bob Marley and the Wailers, will be held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston on March 5, beginning at 10am.

Mourners have been requested to wear white.

Minister Grange said Barrett was “one of the best Reggae musicians Jamaica produced.”

Aston Family Man Barrett provided the melodic bass on the Wailers’ biggest hits including ‘I Shot the Sheriff’, ‘Three Little Birds’ and ‘Jammin’.
