Mandeville Mayor hopes extension of Highway 2000 will reduce truck crashes on Spur Tree main road
Mayor of Mandeville Donovan Mitchell has reiterated calls for motorists to exercise caution while traversing the Spur Tree Hill Main Road in Manchester following yesterday’s 3 vehicle crash.
Reports are that about 8:30 am, 3 trucks were being driven in the same direction along the roadway.
Further reports are that a box truck transporting beverages crashed into the back of another box truck and that truck then collided with the rear of a petroleum tanker.
The driver one of the box trucks was pinned inside, and it took fire fighters about 2 hours to remove him.
The crash caused traffic to be at a standstill for several hours.
Mayor Mitchell expressed hope that the government will follow through on plans for a by-pass road, with the extension of Highway 2000.
He also called on the police to carry out more spot checks along Spur Tree Hill road.
