Manchester United ‘reach agreement’ with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Netherlands centre back Matthijs de Ligt from many time German champions Bayern Munich.
The move will be worth £42.9 million pounds, with an initial £38.6 million up front plus £4.3 million in add-ons.
The transfer is subject to De Ligt passing a medical, with personal terms not expected to be a problem.
De ligt, who has spent two seasons at Bayern Munich since signing from Juventus, previously played under United boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam where they won the Dutch league title in 2019..
The 24-year-old needs to be registered by midday on Thursday to be available for Manchester United’s opening Premier League match against Fulham on Friday.
In a separate deal, Bayern Munich have also accepted a £17 million pound bid from United for Morocco international full back nNoussair Mazraoui.
The proposal of £13 million plus £4 million in bonuses, however, is dependent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka departing Old Trafford for West Ham United in a move thought to be worth £15 million pounds.
