The Manchester father who was arrested in relation to the death of his 14-year-old daughter-Shantina Sergeant has been officially charged with her murder.

46-year-old Lawrence Sergeant was charged yesterday.

Reports are that Shantina was reported missing at the Christiana Police Station on Thursday, October 3.

An investigation was launched, immediately.

On Monday, October 6, a search was conducted of Shantina’s home in Baillieston on the Manchester/Clarendon border.

During the search, human remains were found at the back of the premises.

Following this discovery, police went in search of Lawrence Sergeant, who had fled the area.

He was nabbed in St. Catherine on Friday, October 10.

DNA tests confirmed that the remains belonged to Shantina Sergeant.

Her father was charged on Wednesday.

His court date is being finalised.
