Man held with guns, gun components and over 200 rounds of ammunition at Sangster International Airport
A man was arrested after police seized guns, gun components, and ammunition at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James, last Friday, November 29.
Three handguns, multiple gun components, and 200 rounds of .357 Magnum ammunition were reportedly found hidden in his luggage.
The commercial driver was intercepted by officers from the Jamaica Customs Agency and the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) after he arrived in Jamaica from the United States of America.
Head of the FNID Acting Senior Superintendent Samuel Blake says also among the seized items are Glock switches or auto-sears.
He explains that this is of significant concern, as the use of auto-sears allows a weapon to be fired rapidly.
Acting SSP Blake explains that the man in custody will likely face multiple charges, based on the amendments to the Firearms Act.
