One man was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the security forces, during a raid to disrupt an illegal diesel distribution operation, in Lakes Pen St Catherine yesterday.

Dead is Richard Thomas of Lakes Pen.

Reports are that police, accompanied by soldiers conducted raids at three premises in the community, where containers with gallons of petrol were found.

During the raid at one of the premises, it was alleged that Thomas confronted the cops.

Thomas was shot and a Glock pistol with 4 rounds of ammunition seized.

Police also seized the diesel and gas oil, which they theorise may have been stolen from Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses.
