Man fatally shot by police, another arrested as JCF intensifies investigations into Kevin Walker’s disappearance
An unidentified man was fatally shot by police, and another taken into custody in Kingston, last evening, as police intensify their investigations into the disappearance of businessman Kevin Walker.
43-year-old Walker of Vineyard Town, Kingston went missing on Saturday, February 1.
He was last seen at home about 11:45 a.m. before leaving to make a pickup in the area.
Police say his disappearance is linked to a robbery.
Mr. Walker is presumed dead.
In a statement this morning, the Jamaica Constabulary Force said with last evening’s events, significant progress has been made in the case.
Reports are that at about 7:30pm police conducted an operation in the vicinity of Nuttall Street and Last Street in the Kingston West Police Division.
During the operation lawmen reportedly intercepted a Silver Toyota Probox that was stolen from its owner earlier in the day in the Kingston Central Police Division.
The officers report that the vehicle was seen being driven recklessly, and when the driver was signalled to stop, the occupants opened gun fire at them.
The officers returned fire and during the exchange, the unidentified man was fatally shot.
Police say a 9mm pistol was seized following the confrontation.
Another man was also arrested.
His arrest pushes the number of persons in custody in relation to the disappearance of Kevin Walker to four.
Meanwhile, the police are urging two men who were listed as suspects- Lavar Whitter and Shano, to surrender immediately.
