Man charged with murder of school bus driver at Holmwood Technical High last November
Police have charged a Clarendon man with the murder of school bus driver, 49-year-old Rohan Gentles, at Holmwood Technical High, in November last year.
27-year-old Jevon Dyer, a construction worker of Bryan Hill, Crooked River has been charged with murder, unauthorized possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Gentles was shot and killed while on duty at the school on Friday, November 15, 2024.
The Christiana police had reported, that at about 8:10 a.m., Gentles arrived on the school compound, exited the bus, and was standing outside the vehicle, when he was pounced upon by a man, who was armed with a handgun.
The man opened gunfire hitting Gentles in the head, before escaping.
The police were summoned.
Gentles was assisted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following investigations, Dyer was arrested and placed in custody.
Last Wednesday, video identification was done and Dyer was positively identified as the person who shot and killed Gentles.
Dyer was charged after being questioned in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being arranged.
