There continues to be a downward trend in the number of major crimes reported since the start of the year.

According to the latest police data, as at Saturday February 3, there were 46 fewer reported cases of crime.

This as 385 incidents were recorded in 2023, compared to the 339 recorded so far, this year.

Declines in murders, rapes and break-ins contributed to the overall reduction.

Murders decreased by 26 from 109 to 83.

Cases of rape declined by 23 from 52 to 29, while break-ins went down by 7 from 89 to 82.

On the other hand, shootings increased, by 10 from 78 to 88, while the number of robberies remained the same at 57.
