Low odds for West Indies entering ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

West Indies enter upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri-lanka as the 7th best team likely to win the title based on the betting side  Oddschecker .com.

The Caribbean side who took the title in 2012 and 2016 was ranked 7th based on form coming into the tournament and are at odds of 40 to win the crown in the 10th edition which bowls off this weekend. 

For their opening game against Scotland the Darren Sammy coached side, is  heavily favored with an 88% implied probability to win, but holds a general market expectation of 33 percent chance to beat rivals england in group C. 

India will start as favourites, followed by Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan who lies sixth. 

Meanwhile, the two-time champions West Indies, have dropped more matches than they have won since the super eight exit in the last edition back in 2024. 

Since the 2024 T20 World Cup, the West Indies have won just 14 of 43 matches, losing 27 with two ending in no result.

They played a total of 12 bilateral series heading into the tournament, winning just two, one at home and one in Bangladesh.

Drawn in group C’, the Windies wil face : England, Nepal, Scotland, and Italy and will start their campaign against Scotland on February 7 in Kolkata.
