Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie concerned about apparent increase in number of homeless people
Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie has expressed concern about an apparent increase in the number of homeless people in the country.
Speaking during the handing-over of an indigent house in Westmoreland yesterday, Mr. McKenzie noted that many of the homeless persons are young men who had been deported and have no family to take them in.
Mr. McKenzie also noted that among the homeless are persons who had a falling out with relatives and had to leave the family home.
He said despite Government intervention through shelters, the problem will not be fixed unless people start to take responsibility for their relatives.
